Fans have already suspected that the it will be difficult for the Wonder Girls to return as the group we know and love with Sun's hiatus as a new mother and individual activities for each member. However, there are now further indications that the group's future is currently uncertain as it has been sadly revealed that Sohee isn't renewing her contract.
With her impending contract expiration date, it was rumored that Sohee had met up with an actor agency with the thought of leaving JYP Entertainment to focus on an acting career.
With rumors coming up, JYP Entertainment responded with a press release revealing more detailed information regarding the contract renewal of the Wonder Girls' members, and that unfortunately, Sohee isn't part of the list of members who are renewing. The agency wrote,
"Hello, this is JYP Entertainment.
We are informing you that our artist the Wonder Girls' members Sun, Yenny, and Yubin have agreed to renew their contract and we are currently working out the details with them. (Sun, Yenny, and Sohee's contracts expire December 21st, Yubin's contract expires in September of next year)
Sohee has decided that it's a time for a personal change, so she has revealed her intention to focus on acting in a new environment, so after much discussion, we have decided to honor her wishes.
From henceforth, we will decide on the time period and the direction of activities for Wonder Girls depending on the individual activities of the members.
As always, we want to once again thank everyone who supports and cheers on the Wonder Girls."
Although it may have been expected, it's still comes as quite a surprise to hear that an original member of Wonder Girls will now be pursuing a different path. We wish Sohee and the rest of Wonder Girls the best of luck.
